Rev. Yolanda’s guest for the Sounds of Awakening program was Tym Moss, one of NYC’s most dynamic performers. He is a singer, actor, host, and producer, and is the star in the full feature musical film called Junk. He fills up the screen with joy and authenticity. He is also one of the stars of Theality Tv now streaming on Broadway on Demand. Tym Moss is also a critically acclaimed Cabaret Performer; Stage, TV, and Radio Host; Producer, and LGBT activist.

And for those who do not know Rev. Yolanda, she is a trans femme singer-songwriter and interfaith minister with the mission statement of “Building bridges of Love and Compassion between diverse communities through the power of inspirational entertainment.”

Along the way, Rev Yolanda won the NYC MAC Award twice and was inducted into both the NY Blues Hall of Fame and The GLBT Hall of Fame. Rev. Yolanda and her husband Rev. Glen Ganaway are the founders of the “spiritual happening” called Church With A 2 Drink Minimum. Rev. Yolanda is also a founding member of the NYC-based organization, Drag Story Hour NYC.

The first guests were The Kennedy Family band. They are concert producers, as well as a collective of musicians dedicated to bringing positive, laid-back vibrations to the world through music. Cam Kennedy is a world-traveling Australian Psychotherapist, Public Speaker, Documentarian, author, and Musician based out of Madison Wisconsin. Ellie, is also a world traveler, musical theater actress, concert pianist, choir director, and musician who has a huge heart and a beautiful tone. Many have fallen in love with her voice and powerful presence. Currently, Ellie is profoundly disabled by Lyme disease, but still has her voice and indomitable spirit. Rev. Yolanda’s guest for this program was Kenneth Gartman. Kenneth is a vocal coach, music director, singer, and pianist based in New York, NY. Classically trained, Kenneth began his professional singing career with the Ft. Worth Opera Company and Texas Gilbert & Sullivan Company.  He has worked at various regional theatres throughout the country and toured the USA. Kenneth has appeared as a soloist in several of the country’s finest concert halls including Carnegie Hall.

The second round of guests were married musicians Carla Lynne Hall and Jim Keyes who have performed hundreds of concerts and educational programs for schools, spiritual centers, and community events over the course of thirty years. Jim Keyes is a multi-instrumentalist, switching easily from guitar, keyboards, banjo, and ukulele, while Carla Lynne Hall sings, plays guitar and percussion. Collectively known as Carla & Keyes, they compose and produce music in their home studio in Westchester, NY.

For the debut of Sounds of Awakening, Jackie Greggs joined in and shared her new music never before released on any social media. Also, a long-time musical associate of Yolanda’s, Freddy Freeman, played spiritually uplifting music for this first installment of this fun, joyful celebration of music and awakening.

In the program, Yolanda shared the platform with these two other musically talented guests who are also on the journey of awakening. Rev. Yolanda interviewed Jackie and Freddy to help us to understand how it is their journey has come about and how music is currently being used in the awakening process.
