Heart Explorations: Embracing the Whole Show ~ 10-29-24

October 29, 2024

During our time together, we will explore what it takes to live from an open, undefended heart.  Naturally, any true exploration of living from the heart necessarily entails taking a deep and sustained look at what prevents us from keeping our hearts open.  Grounded in the knowledge that the essence of us, our true nature, is the very lovingness within us all, we will explore how to recognize and release egoic energies by cultivating open-hearted awareness practices which support us in directly experiencing our true Self.  By leaning into willingness, steeped in self-honesty, and with a consistent dash of courage, we endeavor to open to whatever life brings, as it brings it, that is, on life’s terms.  In so doing, we trust that everything – absolutely everything – is here for us to use for healing, for purification, and for learning to live from the heart.  We look forward to supporting each other in our individual explorations of how we truly embrace the entirety of this show we call life.

To deepen further into the teachings from Heart Exploration here’s a link to the Being Aware of Awareness meditation podcast.  In these meditations, the reading from Heart Explorations is contemplated.

Welcome to our Newest Member of the Board of Directors

October 28, 2024

This month, the Board of Directors elected its newest member, Elaine Wilson. Members and friends will recognize Elaine from her participation in the Minster Preparation Program.

The Board of Directors and leadership are thrilled to have her aboard and look forward to serving with her for the six-year term.

To learn more about Elaine, review her bio below.

Elaine was raised in rural Missouri in a Catholic family. When the teachings of the church didn’t quite sit right with her, she embarked on a personal journey of spiritual discovery, diving into the writings of Marianne Williamson and Eckhart Tolle, and exploring Attitudinal Healing. This led her to Awakening Together, where she found solace in its gentle, loving, and non-judgmental message.  Currently she is enrolled in the MPP program,

Alongside Elaine’s spiritual journey, she has made contributions as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for children in foster care and served on the board of the organization. Elaine has been an accountant in the construction industry for approximately 25 years.

Join us in congratulating, welcoming and extending gratitude for Elaine’s willingness to serve as our newest member of the Board of Directors.

Meet the rest of the Board of Directors

Break the Addiction to the Chattering Mind With The Teachings of Inner Ramana Course

October 27, 2024

The Teachings of Inner Ramana came to our founder, Rev. Regina Dawn Akers, in 2009 when she said a prayer asking for something to take her to the next step. It teaches three tools, surrender, mantra and self-inquiry, which work together to help break the addiction to the chattering mind.

ALL who are called are invited to join us for this course.

In this course you will:

1. Become familiar with surrender as a means of tuning into spiritual intuition for guidance in everyday circumstances.

2. Practice the mantra as a way of gently removing attention from mental chatter.

4. Practice Self-inquiry in order to seek for the true Self.

Contemplating Poetry Using Lectio Divina with Rev. Susan Telford ~ 10-27-24

October 27, 2024

Rev. Susan Telford guides us in learning the contemplative practice of Lectio Divina using poetry.

In each session, Rev. Susan reads a poem, drawing from a wide range of poets, including Rumi, Hafiz, David Whyte, Mary Oliver, John O’Donohue, and many others (including her own work), then guides participants through the four steps of Lectio Divina.

Susan shares that this direct practice is a beautiful way to connect with Inner Wisdom and obtain clarity.

*This was a special edition program in honor of our dear Rev. Glenn Ganaway. Glen was a regular attendee for the Lectio sessions and his spouse, Rev. Yolanda Mapes shared three of Glen’s favorite Rumi poems which were contemplated during this program.

Welcome Back! Qigong ~”The Movement of Now” with Ian McArthur

October 26, 2024

Join us on November 3 at 2:30 PM ET / 12:30 PM MT as we warmly welcome back Qigong ~”The Movement of Now” with Ian McArthur! In this one-hour program, which airs on the first Sunday of each month, we will explore the traditional practice of Qigong (Chi Kung), focusing on the integration of Mind, Body, and Spirit.

Qi meaning life energy, referring to the energy circulating through the body and Gong meaning cultivation or work. The two words are combined to describe a practice to cultivate and balance life energy. By following movements (forms) and a simple breathing technique, we encourage more Qi to flow, which in turn allows us to feel more peaceful and at One with ourselves.

This practice has been followed for thousands of years in order to promote balance and wellbeing as well as a means of encouraging Spiritual Awakening. Ian’s meditative approach to Qigong allows us to experience the many benefits of Qigong. One of the beauties of Qigong is its simplicity, which makes it easier for the forms to be learned. You can start your practice at any age and begin a journey of discovery into Qigong.

Live in the Sanctuary on Sundays at 2:30-3:30 pm ET / 12:30-1:30 pm MT on the 1st Sunday of the Month.

Pray Without Ceasing ~ Online Retreat: Dec 2-6

October 25, 2024

Pray Without Ceasing

An Online Retreat

December 2-6

with Anne Blanchard

Ramana Maharshi observed there were two primary paths to Self-Realization; the first being the path of wisdom or self-inquiry and the second being the path of devotion.  In this retreat, we will take a deep dive into the second path, which has been called the way of the heart.   Participants will contemplate what it means to pray, to whom or to what do we pray, and most importantly, how to cultivate and sustain a deep and enduring regular practice of prayer. Join facilitator Anne Blanchard as she guides participants through an examination of what is required in the devotional pathway and how one’s way of being can become love: a love of Truth and God and a willingness to let go and surrender anything blocking the experience of this love.

Retreat Schedule

The retreat will begin at 10am ET (8am MT) and end at 5pm ET (3pm MT) each day. A 2-hour lunch period will be provided beginning about 1pm ET (11am MT).

Registration Closes on November 30th at 5pm ET

Retreat Fee is $300

$50 non-refundable deposit is required

REGISTRATION CLOSED
