August Rush is a 2007 American musical drama. 11 year old Evan (played by Freddie Highmore) is a 10-year-old musical prodigy living in an orphanage who runs away to New York City. He begins to unravel the mystery of how he came to be an orphan as he searches for his birth parents. Evan changes his name to August Rush at the encouragement of a character named Wizard (played by Robin Williams) who takes young Evan under his wing to exploit his musical gifts.
The story is brilliantly woven together as a symphony of the awakening journey and the sounds and rhythms Evan hears in daily life. Themes include experiencing a deep, heart calling and opening ourselves up to listening, learning and following Divine guidance, Divine frequency, which is always all around us, within us, singing us home, supporting us to remember what is real; encountering self-doubts (ego’s vicious voice) in the form of other characters, recognizing these “other” characters are merely symbols of our original projection of a world that seems to be unfriendly/the absence of love…and how we begin to say “no” to the ego voice in our mind and believe in our Divine worthiness; noticing the difference between Divine and ego frequencies; and how the Tao, Life, the Holy Spirit in us, and in seeming others, is helping us and working things out.
August Rush can be watched with a subscription on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, YouTube, Fandango at Home, & Google Play Movies. It can also be seen for free with ads on Youtube at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYR3rDqsnQM

Join us Sunday, May 12th, 2024, from 5-6 pm ET/3-4 pm MT for the next installment of Awakening Together’s musical program, Sounds of Awakening hosted by Rev. Yolanda Mapes where she will interview Doreen Younglove.
Join Jeff Bailey for “The Yoga Mind.” Jeff describes the program this way: “It’s our yoga to identify and remove the barriers to Love’s Light. And when do we practice? Always and now, the only time there is. This timeless formula, which uses time to save time, has shaped my yoga and given meaning to every detail of my life. I hope you’ll join me for these short and sweet interludes where we come to heal. We’ll draw mostly from deep themes in A Course in Miracles to set the backdrop for us to identify, share, and give up the shadows to Love’s Light.”

During our time together, we will explore what it takes to live from an open, undefended heart. Naturally, any true exploration of living from the heart necessarily entails taking a deep and sustained look at what prevents us from keeping our hearts open. Grounded in the knowledge that the essence of us, our true nature, is the very lovingness within us all, we will explore how to recognize and release egoic energies by cultivating open-hearted awareness practices which support us in directly experiencing our true Self. By leaning into willingness, steeped in self-honesty, and with a consistent dash of courage, we endeavor to open to whatever life brings, as it brings it, that is, on life’s terms. In so doing, we trust that everything – absolutely everything – is here for us to use for healing, for purification, and for learning to live from the heart. We look forward to supporting each other in our individual explorations of how we truly embrace the entirety of this show we call life.
