Enlightened Leadership, Tao Te Ching ~ Chapter 29 “Not of the World” Part 2, 02-25-24

Awakening Together’s Vice President-Minister, Rev. Rhoda Makled, and Rev. David Hemphill share from the Tao as they contemplate its principles in order to fully embody them.

The Tao Te Ching (The Way), written by Lao-Tzu (Old Teacher), is a guide to enlightened leadership. While most people believe effective leadership lies in knowledge and power, the Tao teaches it lies in emptiness, stillness, and presence.

The pair are using three books including interpretations by Derek Lin, Wayne Wang, and Stephen Mitchell. And now they are excited to add Regina’s translation to their contemplations of the Tao and you are invited to join them each Sunday.

Personal Retreat Stays are a wonderful opportunity to rest and rediscover what’s truly valuable.

A recent guest at the Retreat House states:

“In June of this year I was blessed with the opportunity to spend a couple of weeks at the Awakening Together retreat house in La Veta, Colorado. What a beautiful place!

It’s an ideal environment for a private retreat devoted to meditation, contemplation, study, spending time in nature or just sitting on the deck enjoying the magnificent scenery. The meditation room is well equipped with comfortable chairs and pillows, and the atmosphere is conducive for long periods of stillness and inner looking.

Dinner time was marked by the outstanding meals prepared by either Jane Marie or Pieter—who both really know their way around the kitchen—as well as the enlightening conversations we enjoyed each night.

I was also fortunate enough to spend some time with members of the Awakening Together community who were in La Veta, as well as spending an afternoon with Regina, which was sublime.

There’s much more that could be said about the retreat house and this area, however suffice to say that I love this place and have every intention of returning, hopefully soon.”

Whether you would like to support your journey with some time in silence, solitude, share the joy of being around friends on the path, deepen in your contemplation practice and perhaps combine that with a hike or explore the area, the Retreat House is open to serve you.

This program is about returning to where I already Am but have forgotten. In willingness, I step back from this dream and look at the obstacles that I have made up and believed in. I will look at resistance, in its many forms, to the path I have chosen again and again in faith. In gratitude I turn within to the I Am that is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

New PODCAST: “Teachings of Inner Ramana” Study Group with Regina Dawn Akers

In the serene settings of South India, near Tiruvannamalai, a beacon of spiritual wisdom illuminated the lives of many. Sri Ramana Maharshi, a sage who lived from 1879 to 1950, became a source of inspiration. His teachings and silent presence attracted seekers to his ashram, where many found peace and enlightenment.

If so, this program is perfect for you. Each week, Regina Dawn Akers shares from her published journal, Out of the Stillness. It was written as a personal journal over 8½ years as she contemplated quotes from spiritual masters and practiced the insight she realized through contemplation. The quotes Regina contemplated were collected by Michael Langford and published in The Seven Steps to Awakening. Both books are used in this program.
