The Little Prince Playsheet

Plan to join us for a discussion of this month’s movie, The Little Prince, on Sunday, October 23rd at 8 pm ET/6 pm MT. Jane Sobel and Pieter Van Prooijen will be facilitating this month’s movie discussion.

The Little Prince is a 2015 animated fantasy adventure drama film. The film stars the voices of Jeff Bridges, Rachel McAdams, James Franco, and Ricky Gervais. The film relates the story of a young girl who has just met the book’s now-elderly aviator narrator, who tells her the story of his meeting with the Little Prince in the Sahara desert. 

Jane and Pieter chose this movie for the spiritual themes of how there is the forgetting of who we are, friendship, love, forgiveness, innocence, death, life purpose, and then, of course, the journey home, all shared in the movie. Furthermore, one can recognize the overall theme of how not taking time to smell the roses, but instead focusing on bigger, better, faster, always trying to get ahead and plan for the future, how this is ultimately a trap. In the end, we shall see… “We’re all just walking each other Home!”

The film has received positive reviews, earning praise for its style of animation and becoming the most successful French animated film abroad of all time.

RDA Seven Steps Journal: Out of the Stillness ~ The Detriment of Debate (Step One)

Have you ever wanted to see inside someone else’s mind and heart as they journeyed toward spiritual awakening? Have you ever wondered what obstacles they faced, what inquiries they used, or what insights they experienced? If so, this program is perfect for you. Each week, Regina Dawn Akers shares from her published journal, Out of the Stillness. It was written as a personal journal over 8½ years as she contemplated quotes from spiritual masters and practiced the insight she realized through contemplation. The quotes Regina contemplated were collected by Michael Langford and published in The Seven Steps to Awakening. Both books are used in this program.

Rev. Helen Avery is an Awakening Together Ordained Minister. She shares weekly in our Sanctuary with a half-hour of heart-felt deep-diving into truth, love, and awareness. This candid sharing is a time when Helen explores different modalities and teachings with various non-dual teachers and how the real-life application of those particular teachings is currently showing up in her life. She shares experiences from her path of awakening including the demonstration of how to utilize these helpful processes and spiritual tools. In her most recent Awakening journey, she discusses radical truth and wisdom from teachers such as Mooji and Helen Hamilton.

A Course in Miracles says in Lesson 132, “There is no world! This is the central thought the course attempts to teach.” However, this central thought is seldom understood with clarity. At this retreat, we will look at a model developed by Regina Dawn Akers called the Four Principles of God, which helps bring clarity regarding the dream of separation (the 4th principle), the process that makes the dream (the 3rd principle), the real world (the 2nd principle), and Heaven or Knowledge (the 1st principle), which is beyond the perception of the world.

This retreat will not leave you feeling aimless. In fact, you will most likely feel clearer about your next steps than you ever have before.

Although the teachings of A Course in Miracles will be used in this retreat, we will also look at corroborating quotes from spiritual masters and texts from a variety of spiritual traditions. After all, there is only one truth and all who realize it come to the same experiential realization.
