Paul Hedderman ~ Traveling Lighter 6-7-22

In this program, Paul through the vehicle of Satsang and repetition will be helping us to let go of misidentification and recognize Being Consciousness as our Truth.

Paul suggests repetition through Satsangs is helpful. It is an example of how the dreamING repurposes another programming element, repetition. What was used to (mis)identify, becomes instead a helpful undoing within the dreaming of that identification. The helpfulness of the Message is recognized in what Paul calls “traveling lighter.” In the surrender of an assumed need to escape/improve, the ever-present reality of consciousness already now/here becomes where our interest stays. Being consciousness in contact (in/as/through sensory experiencING), we appreciate being “successful” – already, as that Reality.

Heart Explorations: Embracing the Whole Show~6/7/22

During our time together, we will explore what it takes to live from an open, undefended heart. Naturally, any true exploration of living from the heart necessarily entails taking a deep and sustained look at what prevents us from keeping our hearts open. Grounded in the knowledge that the essence of us, our true nature, is the very lovingness within us all, we will explore how to recognize and release egoic energies by cultivating open-hearted awareness practices which support us in directly experiencing our true Self. By leaning into willingness, steeped in self-honesty, and with a consistent dash of courage, we endeavor to open to whatever life brings, as it brings it, that is, on life’s terms. In so doing, we trust that everything – absolutely everything – is here for us to use for healing, for purification, and for learning to live from the heart. We look forward to supporting each other in our individual explorations of how we truly embrace the entirety of this show we call life.

These songs came to Resta Burnham from Within as she contemplated the teachings of A Course in Miracles. There are 13 volumes in all! Regina sees the Music of Christ as one of her first spiritual teachers. She used the songs as a form of meditation and as gentle guides when she needed assistance during the purification phase of the spiritual path.

Celebrate Regina With Us Live via Zoom on August 26, 6-8 pm ET

Our Founding Minister, Regina Dawn Akers, is retiring from Awakening Together on December 31, 2022. Regina has been a way-shower and a beautiful demonstration of a life dedicated to awakening to the One True Self.

Awakening Together will celebrate Regina and her service to Awakening Together as part of our Late Summer Retreat on August 26 from 6 -8 pm ET. The celebration will be streamed live in our Sanctuary.

The musical celebration will be hosted by Rev. Yolanda. Members and friends will attend and speak in honor of Regina. And the Kudoboard* we all are creating will be on display.

There will be an opportunity for sharing via Zoom during the live event. If you would like to do so, please be sure to limit your remarks to 2-3 minutes so that all who wish to speak will have an opportunity to do so. We look forward to seeing you at this special celebration!

Introducing This Month’s Movie, “Violet”

Plan to join us for a discussion of this month’s movie, Violet on Sunday, June 26 at 8 pm ET/6 pm MT. Rev. Kelly Barber will be facilitating this month’s movie discussion.

Violet is a 2021 American drama film written, directed, and produced by Justine Bateman in her directorial debut. It stars Olivia Munn, Luke Bracey, and Justin Theroux.

Violet follows “Violet Morton,” a 32-year-old film executive who is living her life listening to her fear (“The Voice”). She has made these fear-based decisions to avoid potential “worst-case scenarios” in her romantic life, her family life, and her professional life. These decisions have taken her away from who she really is. She has grown accustomed to not being quite herself and sees nothing amiss until a friend’s comment makes her realize that The Voice has been lying to her, her entire life.

Something Genuine: “The Power of Vulnerability” 6/5/22

In this program, we watched and discussed a selected TED talk. TED talks follow a unique format. Speakers at TED events have a maximum of 18 minutes to share their messages, which are delivered in highly polished, succinct speeches. TED talks are delivered by people from all walks of life on a multitude of subjects. A great many of these talks are about the insights gained by ordinary people–insights gained through extraordinary experiences or based on their contemplation of the ordinary events of their lives. Either way, their insights are genuine—not based upon theory or dogma, but through experience.

The title of this Ted talk is “The Power of Vulnerability” by Brene Brown.

Dr. Brené Brown is a researcher professor at the University of Houston, Graduate College of Social Work, where she has spent the past ten years studying a concept that she calls Wholeheartedness, posing the questions: How do we engage in our lives from a place of authenticity and worthiness? How do we cultivate the courage, compassion, and connection that we need to embrace our imperfections and to recognize that we are enough — that we are worthy of love, belonging and joy? Brené is the author of I Thought It Was Just Me (but it isn’t): Telling the Truth About Perfectionism, Inadequacy, and Power (2007) and the forthcoming books, The Gifts of Imperfection (2010) and Wholehearted: Spiritual Adventures in Falling Apart, Growing Up, and Finding Joy ( 2011).

Mini-Series with Cay Villars ~ Awakening is Ceasing to Deny Inner Light, Part 2

On the path to Spiritual Awakening, there can be many experiences of recognizing Inner Light/wholeness/oneness, the natural state of peace and joy. Yet many students report that recognition of inner Light/peace/joy seems to come and go and thus “Awakening” feels transient or “covered with a veil”. In this two-part Satsang, Cay Villars shared what “creates” the perception that there is a “veil” over inner Light and how the natural state of joy/peace cannot be a consistent experience until all hidden subconscious desires that deny inner Light are released (full unification of consciousness).

In this second installment of the mini-series, Cay shared how anyone can hear Jesus/the Voice for Guide to be guided to identify and release hidden desires for pain and suffering from the subconscious mind.
