500 Days with NTI ~ Day 263

September 21, 2021

NTI-The Holy Spirit's Interpretation of the New TestamentDay 263 Assignment

This evening (or tomorrow morning):

Read NTI Romans 4 in full.

Tomorrow:

  1. Close your eyes and meditate by being aware. See how deep your awareness can go in the length of time that you’ve decided to meditate.
  2. Pay attention to notice when your feelings change from one feeling to another. For example, notice if you are feeling content and then begin to feel stress; or notice if you are feeling guilty, and then begin feeling proud. Etc. When you notice a change in your feelings, pause:
    (a) Notice that you live.
    (b) Notice isness was present while the previous feeling was here and isness is present now that a different feeling is here.
    (c) Notice feelings come and go, but isness is changeless and constant.

Tips for Gentle Healing Year 2 – Day 219 – 1st Thessalonians 4

September 21, 2021

One of the definitions of “sin” in Merriam-Webster’s dictionary is “a vitiated state of human nature in which the self is estranged from God.” Today’s reading says:

Sin is only forgetfulness.

Sin is the belief that you are a separate, individual being, apart and different from all that is. It is the belief that spawns the “I am bad” belief, which is the source of guilt and unworthiness. Sin is the belief that causes fear and the perception of death.

Since sin is forgetfulness, the answer to all problems caused by sin is remembrance. In other words, the answer to all problems is truth realization. (Reference Day 110.)

Today’s reading says:

“Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, because a quiet life is a godly life in which you hold, within your mind, that the process of life is  God.”

If you investigate stories of awakening, you will find that many who have awakened have spent long periods of time alone in nature. When one is alone in nature with a contemplative spirit, one may realize that life is supreme and manifestation is temporary. Seeing that life is supreme and life is one’s true nature is truth realization.

Awareness-watching-awareness is another well-known way to reach truth realization, since life and awareness are one.

A busy or distracted life, where attention is constantly focused outward, does not support truth realization. It’s helpful to find time for deep reflection and meditation. There are a number of ways to do this. You can:

  • Set aside time in your schedule that is specifically dedicated to reflective contemplation and meditation.
  • Take retreats away from your daily routine. Go someplace for the sole purpose of reflective contemplation and meditation.
  • Use practices that keep your mind turned inward as you go about daily activity. (For example, the practices taught in The Teachings of Inner Ramana.)

Also, commit to being the Self instead acting like the false self. Live as your Self.

Make a commitment to peace, and live from peace.
Or make a commitment to happiness, and live from happiness.
Or make a commitment to gratitude, and live from gratitude.
Or make a commitment to acceptance, and live in acceptance.
Or make a commitment to love, and love everything as it is.

Note: The next tip will be available tomorrow morning after 3:50am ET at this link.

Thoughts of Awakening # 219

What the spirit knows,
the mind forgets.

One who listens to mind
forgets also.
One who listens to spirit
knows.

Be still today,
and know.

Trust your knowing,
even as the mind moves to forget.

Heart Explorations: Embracing the Whole Show~9/21/21

September 21, 2021

During our time together, we will explore what it takes to live from an open, undefended heart.  Naturally, any true exploration of living from the heart necessarily entails taking a deep and sustained look at what prevents us from keeping our hearts open.  Grounded in the knowledge that the essence of us, our true nature, is the very lovingness within us all, we will explore how to recognize and release egoic energies by cultivating open-hearted awareness practices which support us in directly experiencing our true Self.  By leaning into willingness, steeped in self-honesty, and with a consistent dash of courage, we endeavor to open to whatever life brings, as it brings it, that is, on life’s terms.  In so doing, we trust that everything – absolutely everything – is here for us to use for healing, for purification, and for learning to live from the heart.  We look forward to supporting each other in our individual explorations of how we truly embrace the entirety of this show we call life.

Paul Hedderman ~ Traveling Lighter 9-21-21

September 21, 2021

In this program, Paul through the vehicle of Satsang and repetition will be helping us to let go of misidentification and recognize Being Consciousness as our Truth.

Paul suggests repetition through Satsangs is helpful.  It is an example of how the dreamING repurposes another programming element, repetition.   What was used to (mis)identify, becomes instead a helpful undoing within the dreaming of that identification.  The helpfulness of the Message is recognized in what Paul calls “traveling lighter.”  In the surrender of an assumed need to escape/improve, the ever-present reality of consciousness already now/here becomes where our interest stays. Being consciousness in contact (in/as/through sensory experiencING), we appreciate being “successful” – already, as that Reality.

You can also learn more about Paul on his website www.zenbitchslap.com or his YouTube channel under the same title (Zen Bitchslap).

500 Days with NTI ~ Day 262

September 20, 2021

NTI-The Holy Spirit's Interpretation of the New TestamentDay 262 Assignment

This evening (or tomorrow morning):

Read NTI Romans 3 in full.

Tomorrow:

  1. Close your eyes and meditate by being aware. See how deep your awareness can go in the length of time that you’ve decided to meditate.
  2. Pay attention to notice when your mind judges someone or something, including yourself. When you see a judgment, pause:
    (a) Discern for yourself: Is the current thinking ego-reasoning or right-reasoning?
    (b) Ask: What do I want to live by? Ego-reasoning or right-reasoning?
    (c) If you want to live by right-reasoning and the current thinking is egoic, let go of your thinking & ask intuition for guidance.
    (d) If you want to live by right-reasoning and the current thinking is right-reasoning, trust it and follow its guidance.
    (e) If you want to live by ego-reasoning, observe the result of your decision. Did it cause happiness or some type of upset/suffering?

Gentle Healing Year 3 ~ Daily Contemplation #196

September 20, 2021

Please read and contemplate quotes #650-653 in The Seven Steps to Awakening with your inner teacher. Here is the last quote:

When the mind gets involved in the external objective universe, it moves away from the Self.

Tips for Gentle Healing Year 2 – Day 218 – 1st Thessalonians 3

September 20, 2021

NTI 1 Thessalonians 3 opens by saying:

“Lack of peace in any measure is an opportunity to be healed.”

It recommends that we not judge ourselves for our upsets, but instead rejoice, because another opportunity for healing has been brought to our attention. Certainly, the more we see and accept our mistakes with gratitude, the more consistent we heal and come to know ourselves as peace. (Reference Day 214.)

Interestingly, after recommending that we rejoice when we find ourselves upset, NTI 1 Thessalonians also recommends rejoicing whenever we are not upset. It says:

Rejoice in each moment that peace is known within your heart. Do not judge from whence the peace has come or whether it is for the “right” or the “wrong” reason. Celebrate its glory regardless of the reason, and be glad.

Could it be that we have a habit of not being happy—a habit of constantly judging our self, others and circumstances in the world—and that the habit of not being happy is  the obstacle to knowing the Self?

Yep, that’s it. That is the problem. And as Buddha indicated, when you recognize the problem, you also realize the solution.

The way to awaken is to be your Self now. In other words:

Make a commitment to peace.
Make a commitment to happiness.
Make a commitment to gratitude.
Make a commitment to acceptance.
Make a commitment to love.

Choose any of the five options above, whichever one you feel you can genuinely commit to now, and then choose to live that commitment unconditionally, and you will find your Self, because you have committed to your Self.

Note: I recommend printing this tip for repeated reference.

Note: The next tip will be available tomorrow morning after 3:50am ET at this link.

Thoughts of Awakening # 218

The willingness to do nothing,
is the willingness to let go of control.

Let this be first.
Let movement follow.
