500 Days with NTI ~ Day 42

February 12, 2021

NTI-The Holy Spirit's Interpretation of the New TestamentDay 42 Assignment

This evening (or tomorrow morning):

Read NTI Matthew 16 (v25) through the end of the chapter.

Tomorrow:

Reminder: On Day 11 you wrote your guiding spiritual purpose. On Day 14 you wrote a prayer inspired by that guiding purpose.

    1. Review your guiding purpose at least 5 times during the day.
    2. Pray your prayer at least twice during the day. (Or you may write a new prayer.)
Pick times to pray when you can slow down and pray with the heart, not when you are rushed.

Gentle Healing Year 1 Tip For Lesson 37

February 12, 2021

Regina’s Tip for Lesson 37

Today’s lesson fits well with a previous workbook lesson, “I am not alone in experiencing the effects of my seeing,” and this week’s reading from NTI Luke 9.

NTI Luke 9 says:

Everyone who reads My Word, listens to My Word, and practices My Word teaches My Word. There can be no exceptions. You, who are reading this now, are My holy teacher.

Today’s Workbook lesson says:

This idea contains the first glimmerings of your true function in the world, or why you are here. Your purpose is to see the world through your own holiness. Thus are you and the world blessed together. No one loses; nothing is taken away from anyone; everyone gains through your holy vision.

That means that in practicing today’s Workbook lesson, you are rendering a great service to the world.

If you haven’t read NTI Luke 9 yet, consider reading it today. Reflect on it in relation to what is written in today’s Workbook lesson.

Homework for this week

  1. Homework Assignment A: Workbook Lessons 36-42.
  2. Homework Assignment B: Read NTI Luke, Chapter 9 (p 144-146) and NTI Galatians (p 327-338).
  3. Homework Assignment C: Nondual Awakening Meditation – Where am I? by Gary Weber, which is a video in the Gentle Healing Playlist: Click Here to Watch

Gentle Healing Year 1 Tip For Lesson 365

February 12, 2021

This is our last day with the Final Lessons.

The Introduction to our final lesson says, “We come in honesty to God and say we did not understand, and ask Him to help us learn His lessons, through the Voice of His Own Teacher.”

We are here to let go of our self, which means we cannot rely on our self at all. Clear reasoning can see that as long as we rely on our self, we cannot let go of our self. This is the purpose of coming to know the inner teacher. It gives us something to follow other than the self-centered self.

Most people are not overtly familiar with the inner teacher, because there have been many times in our lives when we dismissed it in favor of our own thinking. Each time we chose our thoughts over intuition, intuition was repressed a little more. That means our thinking is very conscious while our spiritual intuition may be deeply buried beneath the ego. However, this process can be reversed.

By wanting to follow intuition more than thinking, by seeking intuition within and by following intuition when we recognize it, we invite intuition back into our conscious awareness.

As we move forward with Gentle Healing, be prepared to put your thinking aside. Be prepared to put your self aside. To quote Nisargadatta Maharaj:

“Try to be, only to be. The all-important word is “try”. Allot enough time daily for sitting quietly and trying, just trying, to go beyond the personality with its addictions and obsessions. Don’t ask how, it cannot be explained. You just keep on trying until you succeed. If you persevere, there can be no failure. What matters supremely is sincerity, earnestness; you must really have had surfeit of being the person you are; now see the urgent need of being free of this unnecessary self-identification with a bundle of memories and habits. This steady resistance against the unnecessary is the secret of success.”

Intuition is the alternative to “unnecessary self-identification.”

“Steady resistance against the unnecessary” is not thinking, speaking or acting from self-identification; instead, rest until intuition is known, and then follow the guidance that comes from intuition.

Gentle Healing 2 ~ Day 340 – GH Year 2 Review: The Purpose of Surrender

February 12, 2021

Please read The Purpose of Surrender from The Teachings of Inner Ramana  and contemplate it with your inner teacher. Follow inner prompting regarding the best way to contemplate the reading with the inner teacher. If you don’t feel a specific prompt, ask the inner teacher to share whatever is most important for you to know, see or realize regarding this message.

If prompted, review the tip from Day 296.

For the remainder of Year 2, use each day’s Thought of Awakening as a prayer that you return to throughout the day in order to remain in a state of devotion.

~340~

Holy Spirit,
it is my will
that I do Your Will.

I am aware
of a voice in me
that is not Your Voice
or Your Will.

I chose this voice
and gave it permission
to speak in my mind,
but now I make another choice.

It is my choice now
to return to My Will,
which is also Your Will
because our Will is the same.

Help me to leave
the habits I have formed
and return Home
to my Heart and my truth.

Show me when I have slipped
and begun to forget who I am,
that I may surrender the will I no longer want
and return Home to Your Will and my Heart.

Amen.

~A prayer of awakening

Playsheet for this Month’s Movie: As It Is In Heaven

February 11, 2021

As It Is in Heaven is a 2004 Swedish film written and directed by Kay Pollak; it was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film in the 2005 Academy Awards.

The story focuses on a lonely but gifted conductor, his yearning to create music that will open the heart, a church choir, and its idiosyncratic members who live in a small rural town in northern Sweden.

This movie is a beautiful representation of one man’s search for love and meaning in a seemingly simple life. The dream of creating music that opens the heart is realized in real-time as viewers of this movie recognize the symphony and harmony of the lives of the characters who, themselves, learn to live with open hearts.

This movie is no longer available on our website. It may be available on YouTube at this link.

Here is a link to a playsheet designed to facilitate contemplative movie watching: As It Is In Heaven Playsheet.

Rev. Jacquelyn Eckert will lead the Movie Group’s discussion of this movie on Sunday, February 28 at 8 p.m. ET.

Gentle Healing Year 1 Tip For Lesson 36

February 11, 2021

Regina’s Tip for Lesson 36

Setting the Goal from Chapter 17 in A Course in Miracles says:

The value of deciding in advance what you want to happen is simply that you will perceive the situation as a means to make it happen. You will therefore make every effort to overlook what interferes with the accomplishment of your objective, and concentrate on everything that helps you meet it. It is quite noticeable that this approach has brought you closer to the Holy Spirit’s sorting out of truth and falsity. The true becomes what can be used to meet the goal. The false becomes the useless from this point of view. The situation now has meaning, but only because the goal has made it meaningful.

Today’s Workbook lesson puts forth a goal:

My holiness envelops everything I see.

Setting the Goal says that the advantage to determining the goal in advance is you will “overlook what interferes with the accomplishment of your objective.” It also says:

“It is quite noticeable that this approach has brought you closer to the Holy Spirit’s sorting out of truth and falsity.”

In other words, in order to realize that your holiness envelops everything you see, you must overlook everything false that would say otherwise. The Workbook points out what must be overlooked in order to meet today’s goal. That is the idea that you are anything less than sinless.

The idea that you are less than sinless is what I call the I am bad belief. The I am bad belief interprets the things you see through the idea that you are not good enough. For example, the I am bad belief may show up in your mind in one of these ways:

You glance at a rug on the floor and think,
“I should have vacuumed that rug. I am so lazy.”

While waiting for an appointment, you stare at a wall and
mentally criticize yourself for something ‘stupid’ you said earlier.

You look at your hands and think, “I am getting old and ugly.”

As you walk towards your desk chair, you distractedly think,
“I will never get this project done on time. They all think I’m a loser.
That’s because I am a loser.”

An attractive person catches your eye, and you think,
“I’m such a fat pig.”

As you sit with a pen in your hand, balancing the checkbook, you think,
“I can’t ever make enough money. I’m a failure at life.”

In other words, in order to realize that your holiness envelops everything you see including that rug, that wall, these fingers, that chair, that body, and this pen, you must overlook thoughts that spawn from the I am bad belief.

The idea that you are not good enough is false. The idea that you are holy is true. The goal today is to experience the true by disregarding the false.

Gentle Healing Year 1 Tip For Lesson 364

February 11, 2021

Final Lessons

The Introduction to the final lesson says, “It is our function to remember Him on earth, as it is given us to be His Own completion in reality. … And shall we not forgive our brother, who can offer this to us? He is the way, the truth, and life that shows the way to us. In him resides salvation, offered us through our forgiveness, given unto him.”

As we approach the gate to Heaven, one thing that will show up in our path along the way are challenging personalities, those that we are willing to shut outside of our heart. Or, if we are not willing to go that far, we are at least willing to disregard them as something less than God. For this tendency, we need to be wary.

Love is a matter for the heart, not the mind. The inner teacher knows how to love. The mind and our prior conditioning does not. That means that whenever we face a challenging personality, we must rely heavily on inner intuition and not rely on the mind at all.

Our thinking is the ego. It’s purpose for any challenging personality that we come across is to keep us securely locked within our own false personality. If you look carefully, you can feel your false personality balloon up when you attend to thoughts about a challenging personality. You may be filled with anxiety, fear, guilt, unworthiness, anger, annoyance, control, righteousness or some other feeling, but it definitely fills up.

Know that every challenging personality you meet is a chance to enhance the ego or deflate it, and then turn carefully, quietly and consistently to inner guidance regarding how you are to be with this one.
