This class is 3 weeks long.

What would happen if you were to allow everything to be exactly as it is? If you gave up the need for control, and instead embraced the whole of your experience in each moment that arose? In the 14 years that he studied Zen, Adyashanti found that most seasoned meditators had used the practice as “an end instead of a means to an end.” What he ultimately realized was that only when you let go of all techniques – even the concept of yourself as a meditator – will you open to the art of True Meditation, dwelling in the natural state.

In this class participants will:

1.   Observe his/her attempts at control within his/her environment and experience, and practice releasing control through letting all things be as they are.

2.   Experiment with meditation and inquiry to discover what results in flashes of realization for him/her.

3.   Look at the difference between the personality and the Self, and realize what blocks him/her from having a fully harmonious relationship with the personality.

Specific Information:

• Cost is $60.
• Textbook needed is True Meditation by Adyashanti.
• Course dates are June 15 through July 6.
• Course is offered in Awakening Together Discussion Forum. Familiarity with the Forum is helpful.

Join us for the debut of the new program called Meditation Sangha this coming Tuesday at 8:30 pm ET/6:30 pm MT in the Awakening Together Sanctuary.

The recent graduates from Gentle Healing Year 3 have decided to have a weekly meditation continuing with the focus of letting go of the false self and uncovering the True Nature already inherently here and now. This time will be for meditating as a group and practicing awareness watching awareness, loving consciousness, and other meditations based on knowing Awareness as the True Self. We will start with revisiting the Karen Worth Meditations based on The 7 Steps to Awakening. From time to time other meditations may be introduced, including guided meditations. You are also invited to make recommendations as to what meditations you would like to hear.

All are invited to meditate with this group! You don’t have to be a Gentle Healing Year 3 graduate to join in. Just come into the Sanctuary and join in and share in the powerful deepening into Presence together as a group.

This month’s movie is called Chocolat, starring Johnny Depp. A young mother and her daughter arrive in a new town. While the town is very conservative, Vianne (Binoche) is quite unconventional. Vianne opens a confectioner’s shop, and as the two newcomers begin to interact with the other villagers, change seems to be in the air, even for Vianne herself when Roux (Johnny Depp) enters her life and her daughter begins to chafe at their vagabond lifestyle.

There are other major and minor characters in the film that confront similar changes in their lives, and they all meet them in their own way. The movie teaches us that we shouldn’t be closing ourselves off from others because of their differences. Instead, we should be opening our doors to others even if they live differently than we do; it’s about understanding that everyone has something to bring to the table that’s worthwhile, whether it’s the traveling chocolatier or the old-fashioned mayor.”

We are currently in the process of nominating members for the Member Board of Trustees. There are four positions open as Rev. Helen Avery, Rev. Jay McCormick and Rev. Regina Dawn Akers end their terms on the board.  We’d like to thank each of them for their service to our assembly. The Member Board of Trustees also made the decision to add an additional Trustee, which will bring our total to 9 Trustees.

The Member Board of Trustees is the primary team responsible for decisions related to Awakening Together’s day-to-day operations. Your participation in the nomination process is an important part of selecting our leaders.

The nomination process ends after 7pm ET on Tuesday, May 26.

Please go to the Nominee page on our website. Review the current nominees to see if you want to support any of the nominees. Ask yourself if there is someone else you’d like to nominate. You have four nominee votes, so you can support and/or nominate up to three individuals.
