This Gentle Healing Group Year 3 is being led by Rev. Sharon Hepburn. The Gentle Healing Curriculum guides committed students to make consistent, gentle progress toward genuine peace, joy, and love. This group began year 3 on January 24, 2024.

Ordained Ministers: NEW Continuing Education Video

In case you missed Regina’s email, she’s added a new video to the minister’s playlist. This video is for Awakening Together Ordained Ministers. It is a video about how to provide spiritual mentoring.

Retreat House Caretaker Position — Is This For You?

Awakening Together is seeking a dedicated and spiritually aligned individual or couple to join our team as the Retreat House Caretaker. This unique position offers the opportunity to serve within a spiritual community that is committed to fostering a sacred, supportive, and welcoming environment for guests seeking self-guided retreats, supported solitude, retreat programs, supportive fellowship, and spiritual communion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Awakening Together Retreat House, ensuring a nurturing environment for our guests.
  • Coordinate with the Retreat House Subcommittee to uphold and enforce guest guidelines, maintain the premises, and resolve any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Serve as an active team member of the Retreat House Subcommittee, participating in discussions and fulfilling duties as assigned.
  • Maintain the Retreat House premises, ensuring cleanliness, orderliness, and routine maintenance.
  • Manage retreat registrations, payments, and communication with potential guests.
  • Plan, prep and serve meals for in-person retreats
  • Assist with both in-person and online retreats, including material preparation, room setup, guest transportation, and managing online platforms.
  • Develop marketing materials for retreats and manage shipments for the Awakening Together Bookstore.
  • Uphold the Awakening Together’s Purpose and Core Values, and adhere to the Code of Ethics as outlined in our policies.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a fully ordained Awakening Together Minister or commit to becoming one within 30 months of hire, starting the Minister Preparation Program as soon as possible after accepting the position.
  • A clear understanding of, and genuine alignment with, Awakening Together’s Purpose and Core Values, and a commitment to living these principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage property, including routine and seasonal maintenance tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage budgets responsibly.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Flexibility to assist with a wide range of tasks from administrative duties to physical maintenance of the property.

Position Details:

  • This position reports directly to the President-Minister or the President-Minister’s designee.
  • Location: Awakening Together Retreat House. Please note this is not a personal residence. However you will live and work at the Awakening Together Retreat House
  • Employment Type: Full-Time.

Please join us as we continue to contemplate Out of the Stillness & The Seven Steps to Awakening. This program is on Wednesdays, 3pm ET / 1pm MT (except for the first Wednesday of the month).

“Awakening Together was designed by inner guidance to be a sangha rather than a guru-centered collective.”

As we step into the vision of “The Sangha is the New Guru” we are learning how the sangha is its own teacher, and honing the skills that are important for each member of a highly effective sangha. We are teaching ourselves how to genuinely support awakening, for each of us and for the community.

The primary qualities of a sangha are:

  • Members genuinely live the spiritual teachings they study.
  • They speak and teach from their own authentic experience.
  • They support one another on the spiritual path.

During this program we are currently contemplating Out of the Stillness and The Seven Steps to Awakening as Regina had been contemplating during this time.

A new facilitator will also be assigned each week. The facilitator will be the one to facilitate the program during the following week. The facilitator will lead by reading the quotes, calling on participants who wish to share their contemplations and may also be the one to share contemplations. To be a facilitator you will need both books.

Any questions posed will be posed to the group and inner wisdom will be brought forth from the sangha in response. We invite anyone who feels called to join us as we step into the vision of a highly effective sangha.

“Celebrating the End Of Our Gentle Healing Journey” from Susan Telford

The doorbell rang and my husband (who is off work sick, ?COVID) answered the door.
“Ooh this interesting”, he says as he brings the brown paper clad box to me in the living room.
“Handle with Gentleness” is hand written on the front of the parcel – I turn the box around and see it has been sent by Florence in Greece.
The parcel is so well wrapped it takes long moments before I see the contents.
First, the beautiful red box inside
“A rose is a rose is a rose”
The rose, the symbol of Love, the symbol that is so precious to me, the wisdom that came in an early poem:
I prayed
“Make me a vessel of the Divine.”
God laughed.
“That is like the rose asking me to make it a flower.”
Does the rose need my assistance to become a flower?
Which good works must it do to attain flowerhood?
All the rose can do is bloom,
at its appointed hour
Unashamed to be a rose
unafraid to show her beauty.
Being only what she is.
You want to be a vessel of my love?
You are already that.
Now, bloom where you are planted
Be the variety of rose
Only you can be
In your garden,
among the other flowers.
Some will show their thorns
They are as beloved
As those who perfume the world.
Stop looking outside yourself
Stop striving
The end of suffering is here
Closer than your breath
Will you give up all worlds
But this, appearing now?
Give up the search
Give up your longing
Be a rose.
I feel such joy as I lift the lid of the box – knowing that inside there is our Gentle Healing book, wondering what else is contained in this too-big-for-just-a-book box – feeling the Love as I lift the lid……
A beautiful package of love with the red rose at the centre – filled with goodies – a rose filled box of pure Love.
I open each precious package slowly, using all my senses, popping the bubble wrap, sniffing the rose scent that pervades the box, looking at everything, tasting the sweeties, sugar dusting my legs as I open one box of candy, sharing titbits with my husband as he watches my face – knowing how wee scared Susie has felt so unloved – seeing in real time the Gentle Healing that has occurred in my life (and in his) over these last few years.
And then seeing the drawing with all our names on
Putting it in a frame to sit on my shelf of treasures
And then the book!!!
I had seen the full pdf in glorious colour on my laptop, but nothing prepared me to hold this work of art in my hand
Flicking through the pages, I feel filled up with the love that brought us together, the Wisdom that wrote the words, painted the pictures, edited and designed the book, that does all things magnificently through us, its willing vessels : the empty shells of Love, the Roses, blooming where we are planted.
I thank each one of you for the unique way you embody Love in the world, for the way you show Love to me.
I can never express what you mean to me, but I know you know.

Because these teachings are so helpful, Jacquelyn and Connie plan to slowly review them by playing one or two of them each week and contemplating them in a group format.
