Sounds of Awakening ~ 4-3-22

The first guests were The Kennedy Family band. They are concert producers, as well as a collective of musicians dedicated to bringing positive, laid-back vibrations to the world through music. Cam Kennedy is a world-traveling Australian Psychotherapist, Public Speaker, Documentarian, author, and Musician based out of Madison Wisconsin. Ellie, is also a world traveler, musical theater actress, concert pianist, choir director, and musician who has a huge heart and a beautiful tone. Many have fallen in love with her voice and powerful presence. Currently, Ellie is profoundly disabled by Lyme disease, but still has her voice and indomitable spirit. We had such a glorious time together in February and we are thrilled to welcome them back to Sounds of Awakening by popular request. Rev. Yolanda’s second guest was Adam B. Shapiro, who is an actor, known for The Normal Heart, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Master of None. In addition to acting, Adam is also an award-winning singer and cabaret performer. He won the 2013 MAC Award for Musical Comedy performer of the year for his show “Guide to the Perfect Breakup”. He is a graduate of Ball State University in Muncie IN and was born in Indianapolis IN. Adam is also an original member of the Church With A 2 Drink Minimum crew in the clubs and cabarets of NYC with Rev. Yolanda and Rev. Glen.

The ongoing host of this musical program is Rev. Yolanda Mapes. Rev. Yolanda: www.Yolanda.net/simply  is a singer-songwriter performance artist, interfaith minister, and a member of Awakening-Together. It is her great joy to share art, music, and wonderful inspirational artists with this loving community.

Satsang Audio to Be Posted on Sunday Evenings After Monthly Satsang

In order to accommodate our European members and friends who wish to participate in Roundtable Sangha on Mondays after the Monthly Satsang, we are instituting a new process for posting the audio and video recordings of the Monthly Satsang.

We will post the audio recording on Sunday evening shortly after the Satsang. This is to ensure that those in different time zones will have the ability to listen to the audio recording of the Satsang prior to the Roundtable discussion.

The post containing the audio recording will be included in the Daily Update on Monday morning following the Satsang. The video recording will be added to the original post and will be available for viewing on our website and our YouTube channel late Monday night or Tuesday morning.

Tomorrow:

  1. Set a timer for the amount of time you want to meditate, and then meditate with this Awareness-Watching-Awareness audio.
  2. Keep attention inward, paying attention to yourself as isness-awareness-peace. From this inward awareness, love all things as consciousness-isness-awareness.
  3. Realize that the only purpose the world has is to awaken you to your true Self. Ask for guidance regarding how to use all of the circumstances in your day to help you awaken.

Qigong : “The Movement of Now” with Ian McArthur~ 4-3-22

In this program, Ian teaches about the traditional Mind, Body, and Spirit practice of Qigong (Chi Kung). Qi means life energy, referring to the energy circulating through the body, and Gong means cultivation or work. The two words are combined to describe a practice to cultivate and balance life energy. By following movements (forms) and a simple breathing technique, we encourage more Qi to flow which in turn allows us to feel more peaceful and at One with ourselves.

Something Genuine: “The Myth of Authenticity” 4/3/22

In this program, we watched and discussed a selected TED talk. TED talks follow a unique format. Speakers at TED events have a maximum of 18 minutes to share their messages, which are delivered in highly polished, succinct speeches. TED talks are delivered by people from all walks of life on a multitude of subjects. A great many of these talks are about the insights gained by ordinary people–insights gained through extraordinary experiences or based on their contemplation of the ordinary events of their lives. Either way, their insights are genuine—not based upon theory or dogma, but through experience.

In this final year, Regina has been inspired to clarify her teachings, as they come to her, on her path.

Each week, Regina picks a topic and points us directly to the intention of the teaching around that topic. In addition, when time permits, Regina takes questions on the topic of the teaching in a Satsang type of format.
